Waveland Sept 11 -- Mrs. Susan SWISHER, aged 61 died at the home of her aunt, Mrs. J.J. Canine one mile south of town, yesterday afternoon at 4. Death resulted from heart disease with which she had been afflicted for the past 5 years. Her condition grew considerably worse last March and for the past 5 months she has not been able to lie in bed at all. Last Friday it could be seen by her relatives that the end was fast approaching. She was the daughter of Frank and Rachel Caplinger, long since dead. Mrs. Swisher wa smarried in October 1881. Her husband, Samuel Swisher was born in Virginia and was a soldier of the civil war, fighting with the southern army. He died in 1898. One son, Howard, and one brother, Robert Caplinger and a sister, Mrs. Belle Loebig all of Chicago and four other sisters, Mrs. Mary Gobel, Mrs. Jennie Sturner and Mrs. Herbert Miller of Lafayette and Mrs. Edna Huffman of Covington survive. Mrs. Swisher was a lifelong member of the Primitive Baptist church and she was a good woman. Her funeral will take place at Old Union Church, north of Waveland on Friday morning at 10:30 and will be conducted by Elder JH Oliphant assisted by Elder MM Canine, both of Crawfordsville. Interment will be in the nearby cemetery.

Mrs. Susan Swisher died at the home of John Oldshue on Wednesday of last week. Funeral services were held on Friday morning at Union Church by Elders J. H. Oliphant and Montomery Canine. Interment in Union Cemetery. Susan Angeline Caplinger, oldest daughter of Franklin and Rachel Caplinger, was born near New Market on July 10, l852. At the age of fourteen she went to live with her aunt, Mrs. Sarah Canine and continued to reside there for fifteen years, at which time she married a souther soldier from Virginia, Samuel T. Swisher, October 26, 1881. One son, Howard, who now lives in Chicago, was born to them. Mr. Swisher died in 1898. Mrs. Swisher continued to live in Waveland and Lafayette until 1908, when her home was broken up n account of ill health, after which she lived with relatives until her death. This was caused by heart disease with which she has long suffered. She was sixty-one years and two months old. Preceding her to the better land were a father and mother, three brothers, a sister and her husband. Besides her son and wife, she leaves five sisters; Mrs. Belle Loebig of Chicago; Mrs. Mary Gobel, Mrs. Jennie Sturner and Mrs. Herbert Milller of Lafayette, and Mrs. Edna Huffman of Covington; besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for forty years. She lived a good and useful life and was a true friend and neighbor. (Thanks to Peggy Robertson for this one)

Following an illness of about 3 months, Miss Susan Swisher, 77, died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Death was due to a complication of diseases. Susan Swisher was the daughter of Jackson and Lizzie Swisher. She was born in Iowa on July 12, 1851. She moved to this vicinity about 30 years ago and since that time has resided here continuously. She was a member of the Providence Christian Church.
Survivors of the deceased are two brothers, George of this city and Frank of Idaho. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The body will be taken to the home of GOerge Switsher this evening. Funeral arrangements hav enot as yet been made. - kbz
